INTRODUCTION TO CAMPAIGN
As we continue to see the worrying rise of such extremist groups, as well as general forms of racism within modern British society, the Islamic Education and Research Academy (iERA) have launched a nationwide anti-racism campaign entitled, ‘Against Racism, Against Hatred’.
“All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black nor a black has any superiority over a white – except by piety and good action.” – Prophet Muhammad (upon whom be peace)
The purpose of the campaign is to promote peace and tolerance between all communities, by understanding common views relating to racism in our society, and to also explore what the teachings of Islam have to say about racism.
iERA are mobilising people from across the country to oppose this message of hate with the message of love, and to counter their divisive rhetoric with the message of understanding.

4. Press Release: iERA to launch national anti-racism campaign
1: GET READY
☑ Download the Toolkit and print off the relevant materials (alternatively, contact the iERA office and a pack can be sent out to you).
☑ Contact local teams and invite them to take part. Utilise Social Media to promote the campaign
☑ Finalise what day and time you will carry out the campaign.
2: TAKE ACTION
☑ Meet at a designated meeting point. The Team Leader should deliver a brief for the activity.
☑ Hand out the surveys, initiation cards and booklets to the volunteers; make sure they work in pairs.
☑ Use the initiation cards to engage with the public and then ask them if they would take a short survey on their views of racism and hatred within the UK.
☑ Introduce the survey – to understand the perceptions of racism, hatred and even Islamophobia in the UK.
☑ Once the survey is completed, thank them and give them the Against Racism, Against Hatred booklet.
☑ Request video feedback from the general public or a picture (ideally, a recording the interview survey would be equally beneficial).
3: FOLLOW UP
☑ Once you have completed the activity, assemble the team together and get a brief feedback from them all.
☑ Footage is pivotal because through it, we can motivate Muslims across the UK (and potentially the world!) to do the same activity.
☑ Upload videos and pictures onto social media using hashtags #AgainstRacism #AgainstHatred, or email our media department ([email protected]). We will give you access to our Dropbox to upload the footage and we will also edit the video for you.
